The Mediterranean Sailing Circuit is born

The new circuit will incorporate Sail Racing PalmaVela, the Caixabank Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy and the Trofeo SM La Reina.

For the ORC classes, the Mediterranean Sailing Circuit accumulates individual points scored for each class in each race, e total points from the finishing positions for every race sailed by each individual in a team, without discards.

Each participating boat in the Mediterranean Sailing Circuit can enter and score in any one of the three trophy regattas making up the circuit, but can only challenge for the title of circuit champion by sailing at least two of the three regattas.

As well as the prize for first place in each class, the Mediterranean Sailing Circuit also includes the Gran Premio Interclubs (the Grand Interclub Trophy), in which the highest scoring boat for each club will compete. The winning club will hold the trophy for a year, until the next edition of the competition.

The teams participating in the Mediterranean Sailing Circuit will benefit from reduced mooring fees at the organising clubs when in transit between competitions, and those taking part in each of the three events this year, will be entitled to free registration for Sail Racing PalmaVela, the Caixabank Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy and the Trofeo SM La Reina in 2020.

Organised since 2004 by the Real Club Náutico de Palma and sponsored by Sail Racing, Sail Racing PalmaVela is already a reference event on the international calendar.

On 29th April 2004 the very first edition of the regatta established the foundations for an event now recognised for its ability to expand, grow and encourage the huge range of disciplines existing within the sport of sailing, including many different ways of experiencing sailing all within the same competition.

Fifteen years later, these characteristics are the driving force behind Sail Racing PalmaVela, which welcomes one design classes such as the TP52, compensated time classes such as the ORC, as well as classic, vintage and Disabled Sailing classes. This year sees the sixteenth edition of the event, which will be held from 8th to 12th May 2019.

Organised since 1974 by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, the 46th Trofeo de vela Caixabank Conde de Godó will be held in Barcelona from 23rd to 26th May. The prestigious competition, one of the most distinguished events on the national calendar is open to the ORC classes, one designs such as the J80, J70 and Dragons, and is the Copa de España (lit. Spanish Cup) for the latter. Registration has now opened for the 46th edition of the event (to register please complete the following form), which sees new sponsorship from Caixabank, and the continual support of the Godó family.

The Real Club Náutico de Valencia, organisers of the Trofeo SM La Reina will celebrate the XXI edition of the regatta from 5th to 7th July, whilst also paying tribute to the Royal Navy and the XXXII Copa Almirante Marcial Sánchez- Barcáiztegui. The latter is one of the most noteworthy regattas on the national sailing scene, and for over two decades has brought together some of the finest ORC teams, and continues to be supported by HM the Queen, the Royal Family and the highest ranking members of the Spanish Navy, to whom the event pays tribute. Moreover, this year the regatta will be dedicated in memoriam to Manel Casanova, President of the Club for over 25 years, and a fundamental figure in the development of sailing in Valencia.

Registration is now open at www.trofeoreina.es.
